ORBES Selected for Techstars San Diego Accelerator to Bring Autonomous Drone Monitoring & Image Capture to Space

[Los Angeles, CA] — [September 8 2025] - Orbital Entertainment Supply Inc. (ORBES), developer of autonomous drones for space‑station monitoring and zero gravity cinematography, today announced its selection for the Fall 2025 Techstars San Diego powered by SDSU accelerator program.

ORBES’ space station product, SentinelORB, is set to be the first commercially available free‑flying drone designed for autonomous, high‑resolution image capture for space stations. Described as a “free‑flying Roomba,” SentinelORB will monitor experiments, detect visual and air‑quality anomalies, track objects, and provide multiple points of view for operators on the ground, freeing up astronauts to focus on science.

Through Techstars, ORBES will gain access to mentors, investors, and industry partners, accelerating the go-to-market of its first autonomous space station drone. “Currently, astronauts spend 10% of their time in space documenting maintenance, which requires dangerous spacewalks. This equates to approximately $130,000 per hour in crew time. ORB will offload these tasks, derisking important monitoring requirements while saving $100M per year in operational costs,” said Anna Shaposhnik, CEO of ORBES. “We have brought together the strengths of the space and entertainment industries here in Southern California to solve the complexity of capturing high-resolution images in zero gravity - autonomously. A special thank you to Techstars for recognizing the importance and impact this innovation will have for space exploration!”

The company is looking to pilot its first SentinelORB prototype in late 2026.

In addition to SentinelORB, the company is also developing CineORB, a drone solution for media productions, including music videos, films, series, and commercials filmed in zero-gravity. A prototype is planned for use in the PARABOLES art film later this year.
